The Tav seal
A mark on the forehead of those who still sigh and cry over what is done in the city.
Ezekiel is told to set that mark. Revelation later sees the Lamb on Zion, and with him those who carry his name and his Father’s name on their foreheads. The Codex says it is the same seal.
Tav closes the alphabet. In the gospel of form it seals the arc. Aleph begins form. Tav ends it. Christ, they say, is Aleph and Tav — not only the beginning and end of history, but of pattern. Not Alpha and Omega as a borrowed pair of Greek letters, but the alphabet the scriptures already speak.
I am Aleph and Tav, not Alpha and Omega.
The mark is not a badge for the untroubled. Sighing and crying, in this reading, are how the seal finds a person. Grief at what is broken is not a failure of faith. It is the forehead the mark knows.
